Letter to My Daughter

The real truth is this - I have only one meaningful thing to send you off with into your years of military service - it is the deepest faith that God will hold you in every accomplishment, joy, pain, suffering, and grief. When I have struggled to let you fly, I’ve taken the greatest solace that your God watches over you. The amorphous, yet still crystalline source, which will go on endlessly. That power loves you unconditionally, forever. When I was a child I felt the presence in the wind, the trees, and the water. I hope you feel it. I hope you sense it everywhere as you look out over the water when you are out at sea.
